About
My property, Casa Maya, is more than just a house—it's a beloved local landmark steeped in history.
It was originally built in 1990 by an American couple who were deeply fascinated with Maya culture. They named it "Casa Maya" to reflect their inspiration for moving to the Yucatán, the land of the Maya. They later became well-known community members after opening a local bookstore and even wrote a book about building this house! I am the proud second owner of this special home, and you might even recognize it from its feature on an episode of House Hunters International!
The main house holds many stories, as it is filled with artifacts and treasures collected from all over Mexico by the original owners and myself. These pieces reflect a shared passion for the country’s rich history and culture, which we are honored to preserve and continue building upon.
The property spans three large, oceanfront lots, offering lots of room for everyone and ensuring private areas for each space.
To share my love for this special place, I originally renovated the main gardener’s accommodations into two charming and spacious casitas, perfect for couples looking to enjoy the Mexican winter. I hope you'll join the tradition of shared beverages and great conversations enjoyed in the cool evening breeze on the ocean decks.
Now, as I plan to take time to travel and see more of the world, I have also opened up the main house for weekly rentals!
At Casa Maya, we have designed an environment dedicated to healing, relaxation, and a deep sense of well-being for all our guests.
You'll find the pool is a great space to refresh yourself on a hot day, while the ocean is best suited for those energetic swimmers.
Occasionally, yoga classes are available in the shala located on the street side of the property, which guests are welcome to request to attend.
I share this special space with my two rescue dogs, Navidad and Esperanza. These sweet pups, who hail from Cancun, found their way to me after being rescued from the streets. While they tend to be a bit shy and keep to themselves, they absolutely adore a gentle scratch behind the ears and a tasty treat from anyone who stops by.
Please note that I live in the main house periodically during the winter months. When my dogs and I are at Casa Maya, they stay with me and are never unattended, ensuring they are always safe and secure.
It brings me immense joy to welcome you to this unique, historic home. I truly hope your stay is both restorative and memorable.
Enjoy your time at Casa Maya, courtesy of Tranquil Vacations.
